Blocked by and Blocking Functionalities are very useful in Advvy if users want to ensure one activity or subtask is complete before another starts. This is especially useful for approval type tasks, to ensure the approval is received before the task is complete.
It is recommended that the Blocked By and Blocking Functionalities are set up at the workflow level.
Blocked activities or subtasks will appear grayed out in a workflow, and cannot be marked complete until the task that is blocking it is mark complete.
In a campaign, you can check if an activity or subtask is blocking another activity or subtask by double clicking into that activity and looking at the bottom left corner of the activity record. Users can view the same area of blocked tasks to see which tasks are blocking it.
To set up Blocking or Blocked by Tasks at the workflow level, follow these steps:
- Go to the Agency Settings.
- Go to the Media Workflow section.
- Click on the workflow you want to edit.
- Navigate to the activity or subtask you want to edit.
- Look at the top Ribbon Bar for Ad Related Activity.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to Ad Related Activity.
- Select either Blocked by or Blocking.
- The Lookup Records sidebar will appear, use it to search for a standard activity or subtask within that workflow.
- Click Add.
Blocked by means that you are choosing an activity to block the activity you are editing.
Blocking means that you are choosing the activity that will be blocked by the activity you are editing.
Note: It is recommended that after setting up Blocked by or Blocking functionalities, you test these functionalities in a test campaign to make sure they are working correctly.
