The Media Summary tab in a campaign contains 3 types of information:
- Overview Grid – where Campaign Totals are calculated
- Media Types grid – where Channel totals from a synced media plan show Gross and Net values
- Fees grid – where Fee totals from synced media plan show

Lets take a look at how the General Grid is calculated using the references in the image.
Lets take a look at how the Overview Grid is calculated working through each of the fields in the image.
A – How is Campaign Budget Calculated?
This is not a calculation it is a reference to the Campaign Budget field on the Campaign Details tab.
B- How is Total Gross calculated?
Advvy will sum all of the Media Type totals that appear in the Media Types grid under the column “Gross Amount”.
C – How is Total Net Calculated?
Advvy will sum all of the Media Type totals that appear in the Media Types grid under the column “Net Amount”.
D – How is Total Fees Calculated?
Advvy will sum all the Fee Type totals that appear in the Fees grid under the column “Amount”.
Note Fees have 4 Categories – Fees, Charges, Rebates, and Taxes, therefore the calculation for Total fees will be the sum of all Fees PLUS all Charges PLUS all Rebates PLUS all Taxes.
E – How is Total Fees – Taxes Portion Calculated?
Advvy will sum all the Fee Type totals that appear in the Fees grid under the column Amount when the Fee Type has been allocated to the Taxes type.
F – How is Total Cost to Client Ex Tax Calculated?
Advvy will use the Total Net field and ADD Total Fees MINUS Total Fees – Taxes Portion to return a TCC amount without Tax.
If the Total Net field is blank, Advvy will use the Total Gross field value instead. If both Total Net and Total Gross fields are blank, Advvy will just use Total Fees MINUS Total Fees – Taxes Portion.
G – How is Total Cost to Client Calculated?
Advvy will use the Total Net field and ADD Total Fees to return a TCC amount.
If the Total Net field is blank, Advvy will use the Total Gross field value instead. If both Total Net and Total Gross fields are blank, Advvy will just use Total Fees.
H – How is Variance Calculated?
Advvy will use the Campaign Budget MINUS the Total Cost to Client to show the variance to the budget.
I – How is Total Gross (MBA) calculated?
Advvy will sum the Gross Amount field value on all related MBAs with a status of:
- Approved
- Awaiting Approval
- Current
- Partially Approved
J – How is Variance (MBA) Calculated?
Advvy will use the Campaign Budget MINUS the Total Gross (MBA) to show the variance of what has been put through the MBA approval process to the campaign budget.
How to account for Taxes?
Advvy campaigns contain values excluding taxes due to the varying tax rates around the globe. Advvy recommends putting all Tax values as fees and put the associated Fee Type in the Taxes category/type. If you need to account for taxes on Media separately from taxes on fees, then Advvy advises to record two tax entries with values appropriate for each, both values will be included in the Total Fees – Taxes Portion field but separating them out gives you better ability to report on the numbers individually if needed.
